The skin is composed of two main layers: the outermost layer, the epidermis, and the underlying connective tissue, the dermis. The dermis consists of cellular materials and extracellular fibers embedded into a gel-like matrix. The fibrous material is made up of collagen and elastin fibers. The water-holding capacity of this fibrous material influences the elasticity of the skin. Any decrease in the content of the collagen and elastin fibers in the skin is directly related to the formation of fine lines and wrinkles.
As one ages, the dermis becomes thinner and the content of collagen contained within the dermis decreases.
It is well documented that Vitamin C is essential for the biosynthesis of collagen by human fibroblasts. This ability to influence collagen synthesis in new skin is why vitamin C is used to aid in the healing of sores and wounds. It has also been documented that vitamin C can induce collagen synthesis in older skin. It is for this reason that we use vitamin C as a key ingredient in our anti-aging formulations. Additionally, when topically applied, high-dose vitamin C exhibits excellent properties in preventing and treating dry skin problems.
VITA C promotes the biosynthesis, growth and repair of connective tissue components such as collagen and glycoaminoglycans. It improves the elasticity and firmness of the skin and maintains the integrity of the skin and connective tissue. It prevents the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and other signs of aging.
Inhibits the formation of melanin, improving the overall skin texture and color. It prevents the appearance of freckles, brown age spots and pigmentation.
Due to its potent antioxidant effect, it helps defend the skin against the damaging effects of free radicals. It delays progression of skin damage induced by UVA and UVB rays of the sun, confirming its photoprotective property. It also protects the skin from environmental damage to the skin caused by smoke and air pollution.
Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes.
A mild tingling sensation may be noted on sensitive skin. Discontinue use if redness, irritation or excessive stinging develops.
